There are lots of diamond tools, such as diamond blade for grinder, core drill. A core drill is a drill bit used to create big holes in concrete and masonry while simultaneously removing the core of the hole. Diamonds are really incorporated in the teeth of a diamond core bit. Due of their high hardness, diamonds grind through the surface you’re working on to produce a precise and clean cut.
As we all know, customers are most concerned about not only the price of Diamond Core Bit, but also the performance, including speed and life. This article mainly analyzes several factors affecting performance as follows:
- Diamond concentration
- Number of steel bars
- Diamond grade
- Bond materials
- Grit size of diamond
The factor affecting performance of Diamond Core Bit
1. Diamond Concentration
The diamond concentration controls the number of effective cutting edges on the working surface of the bond. The effective cutting edge on the working surface of the diamond tool varies with the height of the diamond edge.
In a certain concentration area, the concentration is reduced, and the effective cutting edge for drilling is reduced. For brittle materials (such as rock), the drilling speed will increase and the Diamond Core Bit wear will also increase. When drilling reinforced concrete, the main wear is the cutting of steel bars, which causes the diamond to fall off and break more than drilling rock.
2. Number of steel bars
On the basis of high-grade diamond, when the Diamond Core Bit is drilling into reinforced concrete. If it does not meet the steel bars, the bit wear is quite small, and only wear about 0.02mm when the drilling depth is 300mm. When cutting the steel bar, the wear rate increases obviously, and the Diamond Core Bit wear rate of cutting a dia.25 steel bar reaches 0.18mm-0.2mm.
3. Diamond Grade
According to the conventional analysis, the better the grade of diamond, the more complete its crystal shape, the less impurities, and the higher the impact strength. When drilling into reinforced concrete, the better the drilling effect will be.
4. Bond Materials
If the bond material is selected properly, the life of Diamond Core Bit can be greatly improved. Two aspects need to be considered to affect the selection of bond material, one is the embedding ability of diamond, the other is the wear resistance of bond material.
5. Grit Size of Diamond
The choice of Diamond Grit size is suitable for coarse diamond. Because when drilling reinforced concrete, the height of diamond edge is higher than that of dense rock. If fine-grained diamond is selected, the number of diamond particles on the surface increases, but the real effective cutting edge is relatively reduced, resulting in the diamond falling off before it is fully worked.
