The Description of Quality Difference of Diamond Saw Blades

The factors that affect the quality of diamond saw blades are: Manufacturing process, diamond particle size, concentration, binder formula, hardness of the cutter head, etc.

1. Manufacturing Process:

  • Sintered diamond circular saw blade: The sintered diamond saw blade is divided into two types: cold-pressed sintering and hot-pressed sintering, which are formed by pressing, molding first, sintered then; Pressurized via using stainless steel template, accompanied by different shapes of toothed engraving patterns.

  • Welding diamond saw blades: Divided into two types (brass welding and silver welding) and laser welding. High-frequency welding is to weld the cutter head and the substrate together through a high-temperature melting medium, such as high-frequency induction high-temperature welding rods. The substrates are welded together, and water must be added when cutting, because the cutting studio generates high temperature, and if the melting point of the electrode is reached, the diamond tip will fall off.

2. Diamond particle size:

The commonly used diamond particle size is in the range of Grits30/35~40 45, 45 50 60/80. The harder the rock, the finer grain size should be selected. Since under the same pressure conditions, the finer and sharper the diamond is, which is conducive to cutting into hard rocks. At the same time, it is also related to the selection of diamond and the crushing strength and pressure (kg)

3. Diamond particle concentration:

The so-called diamond concentration refers to the density of diamonds distributed in the matrix of the working layer, that is to say, the weight of diamonds contained in a unit area. Increasing the diamond concentration is expected to prolong the life of the saw blade because increasing the concentration reduces the average cutting force per diamond.

4. Metal bond:

Commonly used metal binders: Fe, Brass, Zn, Sn, Co and NI.

The higher the hardness of the bond, the stronger its wear resistance. Therefore, when cutting abrasive rocks, the binder hardness should be high; when cutting soft rocks, the binder hardness should be low; when cutting abrasive and hard rocks, the binder hardness should be medium.

Conclusion

To sum up, the overall performance of diamond saw blade is affected by many factors. The cutting objects, product technology and raw material quality in different countries will affect the final performance of the product. All in all, the right thing  is finding the most suitable product for the local market and consumption level.
